Refund Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2025 | Last Updated: December 27, 2025

At New Jersey Anger Management Group (NJAMG), we are committed to providing high-quality, individualized anger management services to all our clients. This Refund Policy outlines our payment terms, deposit requirements, and refund limitations. By enrolling in our programs, you acknowledge and agree to the terms set forth below.

Core Refund Policy Statement

All deposits or 50% of the total course fee are NON-REFUNDABLE.

The full course balance payment is due after the third (3rd) session and is NON-REFUNDABLE thereafter.

Why Deposits and Partial Payments Are Non-Refundable

NJAMG operates differently from generic online anger management programs. Our commitment to individualized care and clinical excellence requires substantial upfront investment for each client. When you enroll with NJAMG, we immediately begin work on your behalf:

Customized Session Development

  • Licensed Therapist Assignment: We carefully match each client with a licensed clinical therapist based on your specific needs, charges, court requirements, cultural background, and clinical presentation.
  • Comprehensive Intake Review: Your assigned therapist conducts a detailed review of your case information, court documents, criminal charges, and personal background before your first session.
  • Individualized Treatment Planning: Based on your intake assessment, we develop a customized treatment plan addressing YOUR specific anger triggers, legal situation, mental health needs, and therapeutic goals—not a one-size-fits-all approach.
  • Clinical Materials Preparation: Your therapist prepares session materials, assessment tools, therapeutic exercises, and documentation templates specifically tailored to your case.
  • Court Documentation Strategy: We review your court requirements (Union Municipal Court, Bergen County Superior Court, etc.) and design our documentation to meet those exact specifications.

This preparatory work begins immediately upon enrollment and represents significant clinical and administrative investment—typically 2-4 hours of licensed therapist time BEFORE your first session even occurs.

Reserved Weekly Session Times (Limited Availability)

  • Dedicated Time Slots: When you enroll, we reserve a consistent weekly session time exclusively for you with your assigned therapist. This time slot is held for the duration of your program (8-16 weeks depending on program length).
  • Capacity Limitations: Our licensed therapists maintain limited caseloads to ensure quality clinical care. Each reserved slot represents capacity we cannot offer to other clients seeking services.
  • Scheduling Coordination: We coordinate your sessions around your work schedule, court dates, and personal commitments—requiring administrative time and flexibility from clinical staff.
  • Opportunity Cost: Once your time is reserved, we decline other clients who could have filled that slot, representing lost revenue and service capacity.

Session time reservations are made immediately upon enrollment and payment, making deposits non-refundable due to the commitment of limited clinical resources.

Detailed Payment Terms and Refund Limitations

Deposit Requirements at Enrollment

At the time of enrollment, you will be required to pay:

  • Option 1: Full Deposit – Amount specified at enrollment (typically $200-$400 depending on program length)
  • Option 2: 50% of Total Course Fee – Half of your total program cost as initial payment

This deposit or 50% payment is IMMEDIATELY NON-REFUNDABLE upon processing, as it triggers the customized session development and weekly time reservation described above.

Balance Payment Due After Third Session

By the completion of your third (3rd) session, the full remaining balance of your course fee must be paid in full.

Payment Schedule Example (12-Session Program at $800 Total):

  • Enrollment Deposit: $400 (50%) – NON-REFUNDABLE
  • Balance Due After Session 3: $400 (remaining 50%) – NON-REFUNDABLE once paid

Once the full balance is paid after the third session, NO REFUNDS will be issued for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Voluntary withdrawal from the program
  • Failure to attend scheduled sessions
  • Arrest or incarceration preventing completion
  • Change in court requirements
  • Personal or family emergencies
  • Dissatisfaction with program content
  • Relocation or change in circumstances

Why Full Payment is Required After Session Three

By the time you complete three (3) sessions with NJAMG, you have received:

  • Three (3) 90-minute individual therapy sessions with a licensed clinical therapist ($450-$600 value at standard therapy rates)
  • Comprehensive clinical assessment including anger severity evaluation, mental health screening, and risk assessment
  • Individualized treatment plan developed specifically for your needs
  • Court enrollment documentation (if applicable) provided to your attorney or probation officer
  • Ongoing progress tracking and clinical notes documenting your therapeutic gains
  • Reserved session times for the remainder of your program

At this point, NJAMG has delivered substantial clinical services and committed ongoing resources to your care. Requiring full payment after the third session ensures clients are committed to program completion while protecting NJAMG from financial loss when clients withdraw mid-program.

Exceptions and Special Circumstances

Court-Ordered Program Changes

If your court requirements change BEFORE you complete three sessions (e.g., charges dismissed, program length modified by judge), we will work with you on a case-by-case basis. Contact our administrative team at 201-205-3201 immediately if court orders change.

Important: Refunds for court order changes are evaluated individually and are NOT guaranteed. Any approved refund will be reduced by the value of services already rendered (typically $150-$200 per session completed).

Medical or Mental Health Emergencies

If you experience a documented medical or psychiatric emergency preventing program completion (hospitalization, severe mental health crisis, etc.), please contact us immediately. We may be able to:

  • Pause your program for up to 90 days while you recover (session time reservation maintained)
  • Transfer you to another therapist or session time if needed
  • Provide supporting documentation to your court explaining the delay

Note: Medical/psychiatric emergencies do NOT automatically qualify you for refunds, but we will work compassionately to accommodate completion when you’re able to resume.

Your NJAMG program fee is an investment in comprehensive, professional anger management services. Here’s what you receive:

  • 100% Remote Delivery: Complete from home via secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform

How to Avoid Refund Issues

Before Enrolling, Make Sure You:

  • Confirm Court Requirements: Verify with your attorney or probation officer exactly what program length you need (8, 12, or 16 sessions)
  • Review Program Cost: Ensure you can afford the full program fee before enrolling
  • Check Your Schedule: Confirm you can commit to weekly sessions for the program duration (8-16 weeks)
  • Understand Payment Terms: Acknowledge that deposits and balance payments after session 3 are non-refundable

Payment Methods Accepted

NJAMG accepts the following payment methods:

  • Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
  • Debit Cards
  • Zelle (email/phone transfer)
  • Venmo
  • Cash App
  • PayPal
  • Cash (in-person payment arrangements only)

All payments are processed securely. You will receive an emailed receipt immediately upon payment confirming the amount paid, date, and program enrollment details.

Financial Hardship and Payment Plans

We understand that some clients face financial difficulties while meeting court-ordered anger management requirements. NJAMG offers:

  • Payment Plans: Split payments over first 3 sessions (must pay full balance by session 3)
  • Reduced Rates: Limited sliding scale spots available for documented financial hardship (must apply before enrollment)
  • Court Fee Waiver Assistance: We can provide cost documentation if you’re seeking court fee waivers

Important: Payment plans and reduced rates must be arranged BEFORE enrollment. Contact us at 201-205-3201 to discuss financial hardship options. Once enrolled under standard pricing, payment plans cannot be retroactively applied.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Individual Session Cancellations

If you need to cancel or reschedule a scheduled session:

  • 24-Hour Notice Required: Contact us at least 24 hours before your session time to reschedule without penalty
  • Late Cancellations (Under 24 Hours): May result in session being counted as “attended” for completion purposes but requiring additional makeup session
  • No-Shows: Missing a session without any notice counts as attended session, no makeup provided

Note: Cancelling individual sessions does NOT entitle you to refunds. You’re still responsible for completing all required sessions and paying full program balance.
