For many people of faith, a standard anger management program feels incomplete. You don't just want techniques — you want your walk with God at the center of the work, because you know your anger is not only a behavioral issue but a spiritual one. Scripture speaks about anger constantly and directly: "Be ye angry, and sin not" (Ephesians 4:26); "slow to speak, slow to wrath" (James 1:19). This program was built for exactly that conviction. It is not a Bible study instead of anger management, and not anger management with a verse sprinkled on top — it is a complete, structured, professionally delivered anger management program in which the teachings of Jesus Christ and the tools of modern cognitive-behavioral work reinforce each other at every step. Because they do: what CBT calls "challenging distorted thinking," Scripture calls taking every thought captive. What clinicians call impulse control, Galatians calls the fruit of the Spirit — self-control. The methods agree. We simply teach them together, openly, in a program where your faith is welcomed instead of checked at the door.

Two Doors, One Program: Voluntary & Court-Related

Coming Voluntarily — No Court Involved

Many of our Christian program clients have no legal matter at all. They come because a marriage is strained, a pastor suggested it, a temper is costing them peace, or conviction simply says it's time. If that's you: no referral is needed, no one else is notified, and your program is completely private. You choose the pace, we build around your life, and the work is discreet from first call to final session.

  • Self-referred — start with one phone call
  • Completely confidential and judgment-free
  • Evenings & weekends available
  • Perfect first step: our HALT Reset Program

Court, Probation & Attorney-Referred

If a New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania court, probation officer, prosecutor, or attorney requires you to complete anger management, you can satisfy that requirement here without giving up the faith-centered approach you want. Our programs are structured, session-documented, and delivered by a credentialed anger management specialist. Your Completion Letter is professional, clinician-signed, and strictly factual — appropriate for any court or supervising officer.

  • Court-ordered, probation & PTI-related matters
  • Enrollment confirmation available quickly
  • Progress documentation upon request
  • Completion Letter issued at program end

Important: the faith-based curriculum is your choice, not a requirement — and it changes nothing about your documentation. Court paperwork remains standard, professional, and factual. Whether you walk through the voluntary door or the court door, you receive the same live, one-on-one, Scripture-integrated program.

From Our Executive Director — Why We Built This Program

"In fifteen-plus years around New Jersey's courts and in this practice, I've met many men and women who told me the same thing in different words: they wanted help with their anger, but they wanted help that took their faith seriously. Some were facing a judge. Some were facing a marriage. All of them believed — rightly — that their anger was both a habit to retrain and a heart matter to bring before God.

So we built a program where those two things finally work together. The clinical tools are real and proven. The Scripture is not decoration — it is load-bearing. And what I have watched happen when a person's faith and their program pull in the same direction has honestly moved me. If you've been waiting for a program that doesn't ask you to leave your faith at the door, this is it — whether you're here by conviction or by court order."

What the Curriculum Covers

Your program follows a structured arc in which every clinical skill is paired with its scriptural foundation. Core pillars include:

Slow to Anger — Catching the Fire Early

Learning your body's God-given early-warning signs (the clenched jaw, the tightening chest, the rising voice), the discipline of the pause, and James 1:19's order: swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath — paired with CBT trigger-mapping and de-escalation skills.

Letting Go of the Ledger — Forgiveness & Release

Releasing grievances carried for months or years, surrendering the desire to repay (Romans 12:19; Matthew 18), and the practice of replacing resentment with prayer — paired with cognitive work on rumination and resentment cycles.

Quick to Listen — Curiosity Over Accusation

Replacing negative assumptions about others' hearts with love's charitable reading (1 Corinthians 13; Matthew 7), communication scripts that ask before accusing, and anchoring your worth in God rather than in others' attention — paired with cognitive-distortion training.

Love in Action — Boundaries, Amends & Rebuilding Trust

Honoring boundaries especially when upset, making amends without a "but" (Matthew 5:23-24), respecting others' space and property, and rebuilding trust through fruit over time (Galatians 5:22-23) — paired with behavioral repair planning.

Plus the Full Clinical Core

HALT (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired) self-checks, stress management, communication and assertiveness skills, family and workplace applications, relapse prevention, and a personal going-forward plan.

Program Options: 6, 8, or 10 Sessions

6 Sessions · Foundations

The essential program: warning signs, the pause, HALT, forgiveness foundations, and a personal plan. Well-suited to voluntary growth and shorter court requirements.

8 Sessions · Standard

Our most-chosen length. The full curriculum arc — all four faith pillars plus the complete clinical core — with time to practice skills between sessions. Satisfies most court and probation requirements.

10 Sessions · Comprehensive

Maximum depth: everything in Standard plus extended work on long-carried grievances, relationship repair, amends, and rebuilding trust — ideal for marriage-related and higher-session court matters.

All programs are flat-rate with community-rate options by county — your exact rate is confirmed on your first call, before you commit to anything. If a court or officer has specified a session count, tell us and we'll match the program to the requirement precisely.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be facing a court matter to enroll?

Not at all. Many of our Christian program clients come entirely voluntarily — for a marriage, for their family, at a pastor's suggestion, or out of personal conviction. No referral or court involvement is needed; one phone call starts it.

Will this satisfy my court, probation, or attorney requirement?

Our anger management programs are widely accepted by courts and supervising officers, and we structure your program to the specific requirement — including session counts. You receive professional enrollment confirmation and a clinician-signed Completion Letter at the end. If your court has specified conditions, call us and we'll confirm the fit before you enroll.

Is the faith content required?

No — it is chosen. The Christian track is for clients who want it. The same program is available in a standard format, and your court documentation is identical either way: professional and factual.

What denominations is this appropriate for?

The curriculum is grounded in the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ and is welcoming across Christian traditions — Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal, non-denominational, and more. Sessions meet you where your walk is.

Is this counseling or Bible study?

Neither, exactly. It is a structured, educational anger management program — live and one-on-one — that integrates scriptural teaching with proven cognitive-behavioral methods. It is not psychotherapy and not a substitute for pastoral care; many clients do it alongside both.

Is it really one-on-one? Can I do it in Spanish?

Always one-on-one — never a group, never pre-recorded. And yes: the complete program is available in Spanish with the same faith integration.

How fast can I start?

Usually within days. We schedule seven days a week, including evenings and weekends — and if you're on a court deadline, tell us and we'll prioritize your enrollment confirmation.

New Jersey Anger Management Group provides educational anger management programming serving New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania by remote telehealth. The practice is attorney-founded but is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or representation. The Christian faith-based track is an optional curriculum format chosen by the client; it is educational in nature and is not psychotherapy, pastoral counseling, or a substitute for either. Court and probation acceptance is determined by the individual court, judge, or supervising officer; we encourage confirming any specific requirements with the referring authority, and we gladly assist with that confirmation. In a crisis, call 988 or 911.
