Laredo and the Laredo Municipal Court Docket

Laredo’s municipal court handled 58,671 new cases in fiscal year 2024 according to the Texas Office of Court Administration — the eighth-busiest city court in the state, in a city of roughly a quarter-million people. The main courthouse on Maher Avenue keeps some of the longest public hours of any municipal court in Texas, open from 7 in the morning until 6 at night, with satellite windows downtown at City Hall on Houston Street and at the Bob Bullock Loop annex. That schedule exists because the volume demands it.

This is the largest inland port in the United States, and the docket reflects a working city: warehouse floors, truck yards along Mines Road, the I-35 corridor, and family households where an argument that got too loud turned into a police report. In Laredo, a Class C assault by contact or a disorderly conduct citation is frequently a first offense for someone who has spent their whole life staying out of trouble — and for whom a conviction could complicate a CDL, a job at the port, or a pending immigration matter.

Roughly 95 percent of Laredo residents are Hispanic or Latino, and many families are more comfortable handling something this serious in Spanish. Our program runs fully in Spanish when you want it to — the sessions, the lessons, and the paperwork the court receives.

One Moment. One Story. Two Sides.

Most Laredo cases we see began as something ordinary. A disagreement with a neighbor. A family argument that got loud enough for someone to call. A confrontation where you were defending yourself or someone else. Texas law lets an officer cite for assault by contact when there was physical contact the other person found offensive — no injury required — and for assault by threat when words alone put someone in fear. The charge does not mean you lost control. It means an officer had to classify what happened, and this is the box that fit.

Handling it well means giving the Laredo Municipal Court judge what the judge wants: proof that you took the matter seriously, satisfied a reasonable condition, and moved on. An anger management certificate from a live, one-on-one, instructor-led program is the most persuasive version of that proof. It says you did the work. What the work consisted of — de-escalation skills, communication under pressure, understanding how Texas assault law actually operates — is between you and your instructor.

What Laredo Municipal Court Can Do With Your Case — and Where the Class Comes In

Here is the legal machinery in plain English. An officer in Laredo writes a Class C citation — assault by threat (Penal Code 22.01(a)(2)), assault by offensive contact (22.01(a)(3)), disorderly conduct (42.01), or a city ordinance. The case is filed at Laredo Municipal Court. At your appearance you can plead not guilty and set the case for trial, or plead guilty or no contest and ask the judge for deferred disposition under Code of Criminal Procedure Article 45.051.

Deferred disposition under 45.051 works like this: you plead guilty or no contest; the judge defers judgment for up to 180 days; you pay a special expense fee and satisfy the conditions; the judge dismisses the case. The conditions can include professional counseling, an education program, and any other reasonable requirement — and in Laredo, as everywhere in Texas, that means an anger management class with a certificate filed before the deferral ends. See the court profile above for how Laredo Municipal Court handles the request itself. The part that is the same in every Webb County courtroom: the judge sets the condition, and you are responsible for satisfying and documenting it before the deferral runs out.

Family-violence designations. If your Laredo Municipal Court complaint carries a family-violence notation, the court’s deferral options narrow and the consequences of a conviction grow. Confirm eligibility with your attorney before you plan on a deferral — and enroll anyway, because a completed program helps in every version of that conversation.

Two Ways Into the Program, One Way Out of the Case

Proactive

Walk Into Laredo Municipal Court Already Enrolled

If you were cited in Laredo and have not appeared yet, this is the path. Text us, enroll the same day, and carry the enrollment letter to court. Sessions can begin before your appearance, which means by the time the judge considers a deferral you may already have a progress note in hand. This approach is especially valuable when the complainant does not want to proceed, when the incident was self-defense, or when your attorney is negotiating for a reduction or dismissal.

Under Order

The After-Court Path

Deferred disposition has been granted and the condition is a class. Now the clock is running — up to 180 days, sometimes less. We enroll you the same day you text us, schedule sessions around your work and family, and deliver progress documentation along the way if your attorney or the court asks for it. When the last session ends, the completion documents are sent that day. Laredo Municipal Court gets a clean, verifiable certificate, and you get a dismissal.

Proactive or ordered, the finish line is identical: a Certificate of Completion and Completion Letter in the Laredo Municipal Court file before the deferral ends, backed by our Court Acceptance Guarantee. Enroll online or text ENROLL TX to 201-205-3201 — a person answers.

What You Get: An Instructor, Not a Website

You are not buying access to a website. You are hiring an instructor — a retired lawyer and certified anger management clinician who has read thousands of court orders and knows what a Laredo Municipal Court judge expects to see. Sessions are live and one on one, seven days a week. The written lessons that accompany them are customized to your charge and your situation rather than pulled from a template. When you have a question about whether the program will satisfy your deferral, you ask a person and get an answer.

The combination is the point. The lessons give the program structure and give the court a documented curriculum. The live sessions are where the material gets applied to what actually happened in Laredo: the moment things escalated, what you would do differently, and the specific de-escalation and communication tools that fit your life. There is no group, no waiting for a cohort to start, and no fifteen-minute segment of a two-hour Zoom call with twenty strangers.

Never Denied Since 2012. Guaranteed in Laredo.

Since 2012, NJAMG documentation has never been denied by a court. That record is the product of two decisions we made early: every document is specific enough to verify, and every document lists a phone number a real person answers. For your Laredo Municipal Court case you will receive a same-day enrollment letter, progress documentation on request, and — the day you finish — a signed Certificate of Completion together with a separate Completion Letter describing the sessions, hours, dates, curriculum, and your participation.

Every document lists a direct line — (201) 205-3201 — that a Laredo Municipal Court employee can call for verification, and a person answers. That is why no court has denied our documentation since 2012, and why we can offer a Court Acceptance Guarantee: accepted by your court, or your money back.

What People Say After They Finish

We do not curate these. Every Google review we have is five stars, and every one was written by someone who once had a citation in their hand, as you may in Laredo, and no idea what came next.

“I had an outstanding experience with this anger management class and highly recommend it to anyone looking for real, lasting change. What truly sets this program apart is how much effort the instructors put into customizing the lessons for each student. They don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach — instead, they listen carefully, understand individual situations, and tailor the material so it directly applies to real-life challenges.”

The instructor created a supportive environment where I felt comfortable learning and growing. The sessions were very insightful and focused on practical tools such as understanding anger triggers. This program has given me tools that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

Why a New Jersey Program Is Working in Webb County

Texas municipal judges have wide discretion over what counts as an acceptable anger management program, and most of them use it sensibly: they want to see a live, instructor-led course with verifiable documentation, not a certificate printed from a website after a twenty-minute video. That standard is the one NJAMG was built to meet in New Jersey in 2012, and it is why the program now serves clients nationwide, Laredo among them.

Today NJAMG serves clients in all fifty states from a single live, one-on-one format. Texas courts — municipal, county, and district — accept our documentation the same way New Jersey courts do, because the documentation is specific, verifiable, and signed by an instructor who answers the phone. Started in New Jersey. Serving America, and serving Laredo.

Laredo Municipal Court Anger Management: Questions We Get From Laredo Clients

What is deferred disposition, exactly?

Deferred disposition under Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 45.051 lets a municipal judge accept your guilty or no-contest plea, hold off on entering a judgment for up to 180 days, impose conditions such as a class or counseling, and dismiss the case once you comply. No conviction is entered at Laredo Municipal Court. Laredo lets you request deferred disposition in person, by mail, or online on or before your scheduled court date, and approved defendants pay a special expense fee by the due date.

How fast can I finish?

As fast as your deadline requires. Because sessions are one on one and available seven days a week, a four-session program can be completed in under two weeks and an eight-session program in three to five. If your Laredo Municipal Court deferral clock is short, tell us at intake and we schedule accordingly.

I was defending myself. Why would I take anger management?

Because completing the program is not an admission — it is the condition the judge is most likely to attach to a deferred disposition, and satisfying it is the fastest path to a dismissal. Our sessions are one on one, so a self-defense case from Laredo is handled as a self-defense case: de-escalation, documentation, and staying on the right side of Texas assault law next time.

Does the court order the class, or do I find it myself?

In Texas the court sets the condition, and you find and pay for the program. Laredo Municipal Court does not run its own anger management class. Your job is to enroll in a legitimate program, complete it, and file proof before the deferral ends. We handle everything after the first text.

Is NJAMG a Batterer Intervention and Prevention Program?

No. NJAMG is a psychoeducational anger management program, not a TDCJ-accredited BIPP. If your case is a Class A family-violence assault in a Webb County court at law and the judge specifically requires a BIPP, we will tell you immediately so you do not lose time. For Class C cases at Laredo Municipal Court, an anger management class is the standard condition.

Will you send documents directly to Laredo Municipal Court?

Yes, on request. Most clients present the enrollment letter and completion documents themselves or through an attorney, but we will send them directly to the Laredo Municipal Court clerk, the prosecutor, or a court-designated email when you ask us to.

Is this counseling or therapy?

No. NJAMG is a psychoeducational program built on REBT and CBT methods — skills, not treatment. It is not psychotherapy, counseling, or medical or mental health care, and it is not legal advice. It is the kind of instructor-led course judges at Laredo Municipal Court and other Texas municipal courts have in mind when they attach an anger management condition to a deferral.
