Bronx County Family Court Anger Management: Court-Ordered, Consent Order, or ACS / CPS — With a Lawyer-Written Completion Letter

When the Family Court conditions parenting time on anger management — by order, by consent, by civil restraints, or through the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) in New York City or the county Department of Social Services (CPS) elsewhere — the parent has two jobs: do a real program, and prove it in a form the judge, the other side’s lawyer, the evaluator, and the caseworker will accept. NJAMG was built for both. Our program is live, one on one, and customized per client, from three sessions to sixteen, scheduled seven days a week; and it ends not with the generic certificate courts have learned to distrust but with a Certificate of Completion and a two-to-three-page Completion Letter written by our executive, a retired New Jersey family and criminal law attorney and certified anger management clinician. This page is for a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court in New York.

New York — Bronx County — Quick Answer

Short version for a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court: The Family Court will accept a program it can verify and will question one it cannot. NJAMG’s documentation is built to be verified — a named instructor with credentials, dated live one-on-one sessions, a customized curriculum, a progress report mid-course, and a two-to-three-page lawyer-written Completion Letter — which is why New York family lawyers, probation officers, and psychologists recommend it and why clients from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, California, Ohio, Idaho, and every other state use it in their own courts. Three to sixteen sessions, seven days a week. Not BIP; not therapy. Text ENROLL NY to 201-205-3201.

NJAMG is a private program and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any court, the New Jersey Judiciary, the New York State Unified Court System, the Connecticut Judicial Branch, DCPP, ACS, any county Department of Social Services, or DCF. NJAMG is psychoeducational and is not psychotherapy, medical or mental health treatment, or a batterers intervention program, and does not give legal advice; whether a particular program satisfies a particular order is a question for your attorney. Anger Management at Bronx County Family Court — Where the Requirement Comes From

Bronx County Family Court on Sheridan Avenue carries one of the heaviest Article 10 caseloads in the state — ACS’s Bronx field offices open more cases per capita than any other borough — alongside a large order-of-protection calendar and Article 6 custody docket. Service plans naming anger management, supervised visits at agency programs, and permanency hearings at which the agency attorney and the AFC review compliance are the rhythm of this courthouse, and a parent’s proof of completion is read by people who have to defend it to a judge.

NJAMG gives Bronx parents proof that can be defended: a live one-on-one video program of three to sixteen sessions on a curriculum built from an assessment of the incident and the household, scheduled seven days a week around ACS visits and work, and documented in an enrollment letter, progress reports, a Certificate of Completion, and a two-to-three-page Completion Letter written by a retired family and criminal law attorney. In English or Spanish, from Mott Haven to Riverdale.

The Four Ways a New York Parent Is Required to Complete Anger Management — and Why Each One Reads the Proof

For a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court, the requirement usually arrives one of four ways. Each has a different reader and the same standard: a program that can be verified.

Ordered with an order of protection

In an Article 8 family offense proceeding, the Family Court can issue an order of protection with conditions; under Family Court Act § 842 those can include participation in programs, and judges routinely condition visitation on completing anger management. The same conditions appear in Supreme Court orders in a divorce and in the Integrated Domestic Violence (IDV) courts that hear the criminal, family, and matrimonial cases of one family together.

Agreed ‘on consent’

Most New York custody and visitation orders are entered on consent after negotiation with the Attorney for the Child in the room. A parent seeking to move from supervised to unsupervised visits, or to expand a schedule, agrees to complete anger management by a date and to provide proof to the other side and the AFC — and the stipulation becomes an order enforceable by violation petition.

Required by ACS or CPS

After a report to the State Central Register, ACS (in the five boroughs) or the county CPS investigates and may indicate the case, open preventive services, or file an Article 10 petition. Anger management is one of the most common service-plan referrals; in Article 10 cases the judge, the agency attorney, and the Attorney for the Child review compliance at every permanency hearing, and the return of a child or the end of supervision depends on it.

Recommended by a forensic evaluator

In contested custody the court appoints a forensic evaluator, and the report frequently recommends anger management for one parent as a condition of expanded or unsupervised time. Judges adopt the recommendation; the evaluator, the AFC, and the other side’s lawyer all want proof the program was real and completed.

For a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court, New York’s framework is the best interests of the child under DRL § 240(1)(a), which requires the court to weigh proven domestic violence; Family Court Act Article 8, which lets an order of protection carry program conditions; and Article 10, which puts an ACS or CPS service plan under a judge’s supervision with the Attorney for the Child watching. Visitation that was suspended or supervised comes back on changed circumstances — and in New York the change is proven with documents, because the AFC and the agency attorney will read them before the judge does.

The Generic Certificate vs. the Lawyer-Written Completion Letter

Look at the certificate on the left. It is what most ‘court-approved online anger management’ produces in a weekend: a name, a date, a course title, and nothing a New York judge, evaluator, or ACS or CPS caseworker can check. For a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court, that certificate is the difference between a motion granted and a motion denied. On the right is what NJAMG produces — and why our program is the one family lawyers, probation officers, and psychologists in New York recommend.

A typical generic online anger management certificate — no session dates, no hours, no instructor credentials, no curriculum, no phone number — the kind often questioned or denied when a family court, DCPP, ACS, CPS, or DCF is involvedA typical generic online certificate: name, date, course title, signature. Nothing for a judge, an evaluator, or a caseworker to verify — and often denied when a court or agency is involved.

What NJAMG’s Completion Letter Contains

  1. Who you are and why you enrolled — the order, consent order, civil restraints, ACS / CPS plan, or evaluator recommendation, cited by docket and date.
  2. The assessment — what the instructor found about the incident, the pattern, and the family situation, in professional language the court can rely on.
  3. The curriculum — the customized lessons and exercises, the REBT and CBT methods used, and why they were chosen for this parent and this case.
  4. Every session by date and length — three to sixteen live one-on-one video sessions, with total hours.
  5. Your engagement — attendance, preparation, candor, and the work done between sessions.
  6. The change the instructor observed — stated as a professional opinion by a certified anger management clinician.
  7. Credentials and verification — Santo V. Artusa Jr., J.D., C.A.M.T., retired New Jersey family and criminal law attorney; (201) 205-3201 for the Family Court.
Read the order before you enroll — for a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court, the words matter. ‘Anger management,’ ‘an anger program,’ an ACS or CPS service-plan referral, or a forensic evaluator’s recommendation: our program satisfies it, in Family Court and Supreme Court and with the agency. ‘Batterer’s education program’ under Family Court Act § 842: that is a court-contracted group program, and NJAMG is not one. We tell you which you have at intake, before you pay.

Live, One-on-One, Customized Per Client: How the Program Is Built for Bronx County

The program begins with an assessment: the incident behind the order, the relationship, the children, the schedule, and what the Family Court has said it needs to see. From that the instructor writes customized lessons and exercises grounded in REBT and CBT — de-escalation at exchanges, communication through a co-parenting app or under a no-contact rule, conflict in front of children, the specific pattern that produced the order — and works through them in live, private, one-on-one video sessions with the same instructor, three to sixteen depending on what the order, the agreement, or the ACS or CPS caseworker requires, scheduled seven days a week around parenting time and work.

For a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court, the result is a change the parent can describe in court and a two-to-three-page Completion Letter that describes it for them.

More Than Anger Management: Taught by Someone Who Knows the Courtroom and the Rebuilding

The instructor for a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court is the same person who writes the Completion Letter: a retired New Jersey family and criminal law attorney, certified anger management clinician, family mediator recognized in Best Lawyers in America, and a divorced father of two who rebuilt. He has read hundreds of these files from the lawyer’s side of the table and knows what a judge at the Family Court needs to see; he has lived the other side and knows what a parent needs to hear. Resilience, rebuilding, fatherhood and motherhood on a court’s schedule, respect, determination, a wider vantage point — taught one on one, not from a slide deck.

Recommended by the People Who Read the Proof

NJAMG is frequently recommended by family lawyers, probation officers, psychologists, and court personnel in New York — not because of marketing, but because our documentation has never been rejected and our clients show up to the next hearing changed. Custody evaluators quote the Completion Letter in updated reports; parenting coordinators accept it as proof; ACS / CPS caseworkers note it as compliance; and the progress our clients make in the sessions is regularly praised by the judges, evaluators, and even the opposing counsel who read the letter for a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court.

Proof of Enrollment, Progress, and Completion — Addressed the Way the Order Directs

Proof of enrollment on day one; proof of completion on the last day; whatever the case needs in between. For a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court, the file is: an enrollment letter naming the program length, start date, and instructor; progress reports on request; a Certificate of Completion with a verification number; and a Completion Letter of two to three pages describing the assessment, the curriculum, each session by date, the engagement, and the change — signed by a retired New Jersey family and criminal law attorney, with a phone number the Family Court, the ACS or CPS caseworker, or an evaluator can call.

Court Acceptance Guarantee: accepted or refunded. Available under either of our names.

Finish before the deadline, and keep the enrollment letter. The Family Court reviews compliance on a date, not on intentions. The enrollment letter shows good faith at any interim hearing; the Completion Letter closes the issue — but only if it is in the file for a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court before the review.

From the Order to the Letter

  1. Send the order. Text ENROLL NY to 201-205-3201. A person answers.
  2. We match it. Length, deadline, recipients — and whether it is anger management (ours) or a BIP (not ours).
  3. Enrollment letter today.
  4. Three to sixteen live one-on-one sessions, any day of the week, around parenting time and work.
  5. Certificate and lawyer-written Completion Letter on the last day, for the Family Court.
No Judgment Zone

You Have Been Judged Enough. This Part Is About What Comes Next.

A judge entered the order. An evaluator or a caseworker wrote the report. Between that and the next hearing is the only part you control: what you do with the weeks. Nobody at NJAMG is here to re-try a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court. We are here to build the change and document it, so the Family Court can see it.

NJAMG was founded in Jersey City in 2012 by Santo V. Artusa Jr., J.D., C.A.M.T. — a Rutgers Law graduate, former public defender, and family-law mediator named to Best Lawyers in America, who retired from practice to run this program full time. The two-to-three-page Completion Letter he writes for a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court is built on fifteen years of reading what judges, evaluators, and caseworkers actually rely on. No family court in New Jersey, New York, or Connecticut has rejected NJAMG documentation since 2012; clients in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, California, Ohio, Idaho, and every other state use the same program in their own courts; and our Court Acceptance Guarantee applies to every one of them. New York Family Court Anger Management Questions We Get

Is NJAMG a batterers intervention program?

No. A BIP (New York’s ‘batterer’s education program,’ Connecticut’s FVEP/EXPLORE/EVOLVE, New Jersey’s court-ordered BIP) is a long, group-based, court-contracted program ordered for a pattern of coercive control. NJAMG is a private, one-on-one, psychoeducational anger management program — what the Family Court orders, agrees to, or ACS / CPS recommends when the word is ‘anger management’ or ‘a program addressing anger.’ If your order requires a BIP, we tell you at intake for a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court.

What does ‘customized per client’ actually mean?

For a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court, every enrollee starts with an assessment, and the instructor writes the lessons and exercises from it: the incident, the relationship, the children’s ages and schedule, the way conflict has actually happened, and what the Family Court or the evaluator said it needs to see. Sessions are one on one with the same instructor throughout. The Completion Letter describes the curriculum you actually completed — which is why it reads like evidence.

I live in another state but my case is in New York. Can I still do this?

Yes. The program is delivered entirely by live one-on-one video, seven days a week, and clients from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, California, Ohio, Idaho, and every other state use it for cases in their own courts and in ours. For a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court, the documentation is addressed to the Family Court wherever you are.

Is this therapy?

No. NJAMG is psychoeducational — assessment, customized lessons grounded in REBT and CBT, and private one-on-one sessions with a certified anger management clinician. It is not psychotherapy or clinical treatment, and the letter says so. If the order for a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court requires a licensed clinical evaluation, we tell you at intake.

What if I already completed a court-ordered program at the time of the arrest?

Include it in your file. But a family court’s civil clause — in a consent order, civil restraints, a parenting plan, or a ACS / CPS plan — is a separate obligation with its own proof requirement, and a criminal-court certificate rarely satisfies it. For a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court, the family court wants a program addressed to the family court.

Is the program available in Spanish?

Yes. For a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court, the assessment, lessons, sessions, and every document — including the Completion Letter to the Family Court — are available in Spanish.

How many sessions will I need?

Three to sixteen, matched to what the order, agreement, or ACS / CPS plan for a parent with a case at Bronx County Family Court requires and what the case calls for. Where the language is silent we recommend eight for a first matter and twelve where custody is contested or an agency is involved, and we confirm with your attorney before you start.
