NJAMG is a private program and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Connecticut Judicial Branch, the Waterbury Family Court, Family Services, or the Court Support Services Division. NJAMG is not a Family Violence Education Program (FVEP), EXPLORE, or EVOLVE provider, is not psychotherapy or medical or mental health treatment, does not accept insurance, and does not give legal advice; whether a particular program satisfies a particular stipulation is a question for your attorney. Court information is provided for convenience and may change.

Waterbury Family Court and Its Restraining Order Agreements

Waterbury’s family court at 300 Grand Street sits a hundred yards from the criminal courthouse at 400 Grand, which means a Waterbury household can be in front of a criminal judge on a protective order and a family judge on a restraining order in the same week. The family division draws from the city — second in the state for family violence incidents — and from Naugatuck, Wolcott, Watertown, Southbury, and the Litchfield Hills towns to the west.

Waterbury’s Family Services office handles a heavy volume of restraining order hearings, and a large share resolve by agreement in the pre-hearing meeting: the applicant accepts a partial order or withdraws on terms, the respondent commits in writing to no contact and to a specified anger management program with proof by a date certain, and the judge enters it. In the dissolution and custody cases that often run alongside, the same commitment appears in a stipulated parenting plan as a condition of expanded parenting time.

Waterbury judges enforce these stipulations. A respondent who misses the deadline, or produces a certificate from a program the other side can discredit, has handed the applicant a contempt motion and an extension. We exist to prevent that: a program matched to the stipulation’s language, started the day you enroll, documented at every stage.

How the Anger Management Clause Gets Into a Waterbury Order

Consent order without findings

At the Waterbury Family Court the respondent agrees to the entry of the § 46b-15 order (or a narrower version) without admitting the allegations and without the judge making findings. The order has full force — no contact, stay-away, firearms surrender, registry — but the file contains no finding of domestic violence. Anger management is frequently written in as a term, with proof due before the order’s review or expiration date.

Withdrawal on stipulation

The applicant withdraws the Waterbury application in exchange for the respondent’s written promises: no contact except through a defined channel, a stay-away from the home or workplace, an exchange protocol for children, and completion of an anger management program by a date certain with proof to counsel or Family Relations. The stipulation is entered as an order and enforced by contempt.

Stipulated agreement in the divorce or custody file

Where a dissolution or custody case is pending at the Waterbury Family Court, the anger management clause is folded into the pendente lite orders, a parenting plan, or the final stipulated judgment — typically as the condition on which supervised parenting time becomes unsupervised or a limited schedule expands. Proof goes to counsel, the guardian ad litem, and Family Relations.

Read the Clause Before You Enroll — Then Match It Exactly

Every Waterbury stipulation has a reader on the other side — opposing counsel, a guardian ad litem, a Family Relations counselor preparing a report — whose job is to notice what is missing. A certificate with no session dates, a provider with no phone number, a program described in one line, a completion date after the status conference: each is a gap, and each becomes a paragraph in a motion. Satisfying the clause means leaving no gap.

Every NJAMG document is written to answer all five. The enrollment letter names the instructor and the program length. Progress notes list each session by date. The Certificate of Completion and Completion Letter describe the assessment-based curriculum, the hours, the attendance, and the client’s participation, and carry (201) 205-3201 for verification. Since 2012 no court has rejected them.

Do not contact the other party — not to say you enrolled, not to say you finished. If an order from the Waterbury Family Court is in force, contact is a felony under § 53a-223b whoever initiates it; if the application was withdrawn on stipulation, the stipulation’s contact rules control and a breach is contempt. Every document goes to your attorney.

When the Restraining Order Is Part of a Custody Fight at Waterbury Family Court

Restraining orders after a Waterbury divorce judgment are their own category. The marriage is over, the parenting plan is entered, and then an exchange goes wrong, a text thread escalates, or a new partner enters the picture, and one former spouse is back at the Waterbury Family Court with a § 46b-15 application. The order that issues can override the parenting plan’s exchange terms, suspend contact, and hand the applicant an argument for a post-judgment custody modification.

A stipulated anger management program answers that question on the respondent’s terms. It is entered by agreement, performed privately, and documented in a form the evaluator and the GAL can read. Under § 46b-56 the court weighs the parent’s ability to be actively involved, to meet the child’s needs, and — where there has been family violence — its effect on the child. A completed, documented program speaks to all three. Parenting education under § 46b-69b remains mandatory in every case with minor children; anger management is the term the parties add.

Not a Class You Attend. A Course Built for You.

Here is the sequence. Day one: enrollment by text, a same-day enrollment letter to your attorney, and an assessment session that reads the stipulation and the case. The course: customized lessons and exercises between sessions, private one-on-one Zoom sessions with the same instructor any day of the week, and progress notes whenever counsel, the GAL, or Family Relations asks. Completion: a Certificate of Completion and a separate Completion Letter — curriculum, hours, dates, attendance, participation, verification number — delivered the day you finish, before the deadline in your Waterbury agreement.

The result is a program you can actually describe if a guardian ad litem asks what you learned — and documentation the Waterbury Family Court can verify by phone. Direct pay only: no insurance, no diagnosis, no delay.

Not FVEP. Not EXPLORE. Not EVOLVE. Those are Connecticut Judicial Branch programs for the criminal side of a family violence case, delivered through Court Support Services Division contractors; only a G.A. court can place you in them. NJAMG is a private, psychoeducational program used to satisfy the anger management terms of civil restraining order agreements, protection order agreements, and family court stipulations at the Waterbury Family Court — and it is not psychotherapy or treatment. If your clause requires a licensed clinical provider, we will tell you at intake.

Why We Are Direct Pay Only — and Why That Helps Your Case

  • Speed. A Waterbury stipulation deadline does not wait for an insurance authorization. Direct pay means enrollment, the enrollment letter, and the first session can all happen the day you reach us.
  • Privacy. No insurance means no diagnosis code, no claims history, and no mental-health record created by your compliance with a court agreement — a real consideration in a custody case at the Waterbury Family Court.
  • Control. The stipulation, not a plan administrator, sets the number of sessions. We deliver that number, on your calendar, seven days a week.
  • Certainty. Flat fee, quoted in advance, all documentation included, payable by Zelle, Apple Pay, Cash App, or card, with payment plans available — and a 100% Court Acceptance Guarantee behind every certificate.

From the Clause to the Certificate

  1. Text ENROLL CT to 201-205-3201 with a photo of the stipulation, consent order, or agreement page that mentions anger management.
  2. Same-day intake and assessment. We read the clause — session count, provider language, deadline, recipients — and if it calls for a licensed clinical provider we tell you before you pay.
  3. Same-day enrollment letter to your attorney, for delivery to opposing counsel, the guardian ad litem, or Family Relations at the Waterbury Family Court.
  4. Your custom course: lessons and exercises built from the assessment; private one-on-one Zoom sessions with the same instructor, seven days a week; progress notes on request.
  5. Certificate of Completion and Completion Letter, the day you finish — addressed as the stipulation requires, before the deadline, verifiable by phone.
No Judgment Zone

Zero Judgment. Full Discretion.

Your enrollment is private and paid directly, so it exists in no insurance record. Your sessions are private. The only people who see your paperwork are the ones the stipulation names — your attorney, opposing counsel, the guardian ad litem, Family Relations at Waterbury Family Court. Inside the program you are treated as an adult with a deadline to meet, not a file to manage.

Proof of Enrollment, Proof of Completion — Addressed the Way the Stipulation Directs

A stipulation deadline at the Waterbury Family Court is usually measured in weeks, so our documentation is issued in real time rather than at the end. Day one: the enrollment letter, which is what your attorney files or forwards to show good faith at the next status date. Mid-course: progress notes on request, listing sessions by date and length. Last day: the Certificate of Completion and the Completion Letter, which together describe the assessment-based curriculum, the hours, the attendance, and the participation, and carry (201) 205-3201 for verification.

Every document is addressed the way the Waterbury agreement directs and goes to you and your attorney only. Court Acceptance Guarantee: accepted or refunded, and never once refunded since 2012.

“I had an outstanding experience with this anger management class and highly recommend it to anyone looking for real, lasting change. What truly sets this program apart is how much effort the instructors put into customizing the lessons for each student. They don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach — instead, they listen carefully, understand individual situations, and tailor the material so it directly applies to real-life challenges.”

Built by a Retired Family-Law Mediator. An Hour From Connecticut.

NJAMG was founded in Jersey City in 2012 by Santo V. Artusa Jr., J.D., C.A.M.T. — a Rutgers Law graduate, former public defender, and family-law mediator named to Best Lawyers in America, who retired from practice to run this program full time. He has drafted, negotiated, and enforced stipulations like yours for fifteen years; he knows what a guardian ad litem and a Family Relations counselor at Waterbury Family Court look for in a completion letter because he spent years across the table from them. Connecticut has no licensing board or approved-provider list for general anger management, so what a family court accepts is what it finds credible — a named instructor, dated sessions, a real curriculum, and a phone number a clerk can call. No court has rejected NJAMG documentation since 2012, and our Court Acceptance Guarantee applies at every family court in the state.

Waterbury Family Court Stipulation and Consent Order Questions We Get

Is this the Family Violence Education Program?

No. FVEP, EXPLORE, and EVOLVE are criminal-court programs run through the Judicial Branch, not through Waterbury Family Court; NJAMG is a private program used to satisfy civil agreements — consent orders, stipulations, and family court orders — and is not psychotherapy or treatment.

Is the program really customized?

Yes. Every enrollee begins with an assessment, and the instructor builds the lessons and exercises from it — the order’s terms, the relationship, the custody schedule, and the way conflict has actually been happening in your Waterbury case. Sessions are private one-on-one Zoom meetings with the same instructor throughout. The completion documents describe the curriculum you actually completed.

What happens if I do not satisfy the stipulation?

The applicant’s attorney files a motion for contempt at the Waterbury Family Court, the withdrawn application can be refiled, an existing order can be extended, and in a custody case the failure becomes an argument under § 46b-56 that you do not follow court orders. The remedy is simple and time-sensitive: enroll now, document everything, finish before the deadline.

The stipulation says “licensed” provider. Does NJAMG qualify?

It depends on the exact words. NJAMG’s instructor is a certified anger management clinician (C.A.M.T.) and a retired lawyer; the program is psychoeducational, not clinical treatment. If your Waterbury Family Court clause requires a licensed therapist or clinical treatment, our program may not satisfy it, and we will tell you so at intake — before you pay — so your attorney can seek clarification or a modification.

Why don’t you accept insurance?

Because insurance slows things down and creates records that do not belong in a family file. A Waterbury Family Court stipulation requires a program, a deadline, and proof — not a diagnosis, an authorization, or a claims history. Direct pay means you start the day you text, the program length is set by the stipulation rather than a plan, and nothing about your compliance enters an insurance record. One flat fee, all documents included, payable by Zelle, Apple Pay, Cash App, or card, with payment plans available.

What is a consent order on a restraining order?

An order under § 46b-15 or § 46b-16a entered by agreement of the parties, without the judge making findings. It has full legal effect — no contact, stay-away, firearms surrender, registry — but the Waterbury file contains no finding of domestic violence. Anger management is frequently a written term of the agreement.

Can I contact the other party to tell them I finished?

No. If a Waterbury Family Court restraining order or protection order is in force, contact is a felony under § 53a-223b regardless of who initiates it, and even where an order has been withdrawn the stipulation’s contact rules control. Documents go to your attorney, who delivers them as the agreement directs.
