League City Municipal Court — Anger Management, Court-Ordered or Proactive

Quick answer: If you are charged with a Class C misdemeanor in League City — assault by contact or threat under Texas Penal Code 22.01(a)(2) or (a)(3), disorderly conduct under 42.01, or a city ordinance violation — League City Municipal Court can grant deferred disposition under Code of Criminal Procedure Article 45.051, place you on a probation of up to 180 days, and require an anger management class as a condition. Complete the conditions and the complaint is dismissed with no conviction. The New Jersey Anger Management Group (NJAMG) provides that class as live, one-on-one virtual sessions seven days a week with customized lessons, a same-day enrollment letter, and a Certificate of Completion plus Completion Letter backed by a Court Acceptance Guarantee. League City and the League City Municipal Court Docket

League City is the largest city in Galveston County, and its municipal court on West Walker Street logged 12,129 new cases in fiscal year 2024 per the Texas Office of Court Administration. The city sits on Clear Lake between the Johnson Space Center and the Kemah waterfront, and the docket has a distinctly Bay Area flavor: marina disputes at South Shore Harbour, a confrontation on the Kemah Boardwalk that ended with a League City citation because of where the parties lived, an I-45 traffic stop that escalated, a family argument in Victory Lakes.

A lot of League City residents work for NASA contractors, refineries, hospitals, and the ports — jobs that run background checks and, in some cases, security clearances. A Class C assault conviction is small on paper and large in practice. Deferred disposition is the fix, and League City posts a plain-English explanation of the program on the court’s website. What that page does not tell you is that the judge will almost always want proof of an anger management class before the deferral closes.

We serve League City, Clear Lake, Webster, Friendswood, Dickinson, and Kemah from the same live one-on-one format, seven days a week, with the enrollment letter delivered the day you sign up.

You Defended Yourself. Now You Are the One Charged.

You defended yourself, and now you are the one holding the citation. It happens more often than anyone admits — in League City and in every city we serve. The other person swung first, or grabbed you, or got in your face, and when the officers arrived the story they heard was two stories, and someone had to be cited. Under Texas Penal Code 22.01(a)(3), physical contact the other person regarded as offensive is enough for a Class C charge. Under (a)(2), a threat is enough. Neither one requires you to have been the aggressor in any meaningful sense.

We built this program for the League City residents who read that paragraph and feel seen. You are not here because you are a violent person. You are here because you want the case resolved without a conviction, and the judge is going to want proof of a class before granting that. We make the class the easy part — live, one on one, on your schedule, customized to what actually happened — and we make the paperwork bulletproof.

The Texas Statutes Behind Your League City Citation, and the Way Out

A League City citation for assault by contact, assault by threat, or disorderly conduct is a Class C misdemeanor under the Texas Penal Code — sections 22.01(a)(3), 22.01(a)(2), and 42.01 respectively. The maximum penalty is a fine, which is why these cases sit in municipal court rather than county court. That jurisdictional fact is also what unlocks deferred disposition under Code of Criminal Procedure Article 45.051, the most common way anger-related Class C cases in Galveston County are resolved.

All of these are fine-only offenses, and that is what gives the judge at League City Municipal Court the tool that matters: Code of Criminal Procedure Article 45.051, deferred disposition. After a plea of guilty or no contest, the judge can defer further proceedings for up to 180 days, impose conditions, and — if you meet them — dismiss the complaint. The statute expressly lets the judge require professional counseling, an education program, and “any other reasonable condition.” In an assault or disorderly conduct case, that reasonable condition is almost always an anger management class with proof of completion filed before the deferral ends. The specifics of how League City Municipal Court processes a deferral request are in the profile at the top of this page. The constant, in League City as everywhere in Texas, is that the court expects you to find the program, complete it, and file the proof.

Family-violence designations. If your League City Municipal Court complaint carries a family-violence notation, the court’s deferral options narrow and the consequences of a conviction grow. Confirm eligibility with your attorney before you plan on a deferral — and enroll anyway, because a completed program helps in every version of that conversation.

Two Ways Into the Program, One Way Out of the Case

Get Ahead of It

The Before-Court Path

Most people wait to be told. The ones who do best do not. If you have a pending Class C assault, threat, or disorderly conduct case in League City, enrolling before your appearance lets you hand the judge a same-day enrollment letter and, in many cases, a completion certificate before the court has even set conditions. The deferral becomes a formality. We have watched this play out in courtrooms for more than a decade — it is the reason the program exists.

Already Ordered

Match the Order, Beat the Deadline

If the judge at League City Municipal Court has already attached an anger management condition to your deferral, the job is precision: complete what was ordered, document it the way the court expects, and file it before the deferral period ends. We read the order line by line, confirm the session or hour count, and schedule sessions — seven days a week, mornings through late evenings — so that the certificate is in the court’s file with time left on the clock. A missed deadline can convert a deferral into a conviction. We do not let that happen.

Either way, the paperwork is the same: a same-day enrollment letter, progress documentation on request, and a Certificate of Completion plus Completion Letter on the day you finish — all backed by our Court Acceptance Guarantee at League City Municipal Court. Enroll online or text ENROLL TX to 201-205-3201.

The NJAMG Format — Built for People With Jobs, Families, and Court Dates

Most of our League City clients have a job that does not stop for a court case and a family that does not either. The program is built around that. Live one-on-one sessions are available seven days a week, from early morning to late evening, so you can schedule around a plant shift, a hospital rotation, a school pickup, or a drive from the far side of Galveston County. Between sessions, customized written lessons — grounded in REBT and CBT methods and tailored to the incident and your court order — keep the program moving on your timeline, not a class calendar.

For League City Municipal Court, that documentation is the difference between a certificate that gets a raised eyebrow and one that gets a dismissal. For you, the difference is time: most clients complete an eight-session program in three to five weeks without missing work, and a four-session program in under two.

From First Text to Dismissal

  3. Enrollment letter, same day. On letterhead, signed, and specific about your program length and start date.
  4. Sessions on your schedule. Live, one on one, seven days a week, paired with lessons customized to your case.
  5. Completion documents delivered. Certificate of Completion plus Completion Letter, sent the day you complete the last session.

12SessionsLonger deferrals, repeat citations, or an order written in hours. Twelve live one-hour sessions.
16+SessionsExtended orders and family-related cases. Any length the judge writes, we build.

If the League City Municipal Court order is unclear about sessions versus hours, text us a photo and we will read it for you at no charge. Our Texas overview page compares how municipal courts across the state write the condition.

The Paperwork: Enrollment Letter, Progress Notes, Certificate and Completion Letter

Three documents carry a Texas deferral from start to dismissal, and we produce all of them. First, a same-day enrollment letter — the piece of paper that tells the judge and prosecutor at League City Municipal Court that you have already started. Second, progress notes whenever your attorney or the court asks for them, showing every session by date and length. Third, on the day you finish, a Certificate of Completion and a Completion Letter, both signed, both specific, both carrying a phone number the clerk can call.

We stand behind those documents in League City exactly as we do in New Jersey, with a written Court Acceptance Guarantee: if your court will not accept them, your fee is refunded in full.

ACCEPTED
NATIONWIDE
ALL 50 STATES

Started in New Jersey. Serving America.

NJAMG was founded in Jersey City in 2012 by Santo V. Artusa Jr., J.D., C.A.M.T. — a Rutgers Law graduate, former public defender, and family-law mediator named to Best Lawyers in America, who retired from practicing law to run this program full time. For more than a decade he stood next to defendants while judges decided whether their completion letters were good enough. The program he built is the answer to that question, and it turned out the answer works in every state — League City included.

There is no such thing as a program “approved in all fifty states” — no state has a universal approval system, and Texas leaves general anger management to the discretion of the court. What we can say is that our documentation has been accepted everywhere it has been presented since 2012, and that we guarantee its acceptance at League City Municipal Court.

League City Municipal Court Anger Management: Questions We Get From League City Clients

Do you offer the program in Spanish?

Yes — sessions, lessons, and every document League City Municipal Court receives can be delivered in Spanish. Roughly one in five League City residents is Hispanic or Latino, and a large share of our Texas clients complete the program entirely in Spanish.

What does it cost?

Pricing is flat-rate by program length and is quoted by text or phone before you commit — no surprise fees, and all documentation is included. Payment plans and, when available, sliding-scale pricing are offered. Text ENROLL TX to 201-205-3201 for a quote for your League City Municipal Court case.

Is there a waitlist?

No. You enroll the day you text, receive the enrollment letter the same day — in time for your League City Municipal Court appearance — and can schedule your first live session this week. There are no cohorts to wait for because every session is one on one.

What if my deferral deadline is only a few weeks away?

Tell us at intake. We regularly complete eight- and twelve-session programs inside a short Galveston County deferral window by scheduling multiple live sessions per week, including evenings and weekends. The Certificate of Completion and Completion Letter are issued the same day your last session ends.

Will League City Municipal Court accept an anger management certificate from an out-of-state program?

Yes. Texas has no statewide approved-provider list for general anger management; acceptance is at the discretion of the judge, prosecutor, or clerk handling your case, and what they look for is a live, instructor-led program with verifiable documentation. NJAMG documents have never been denied by a court since 2012, and our Court Acceptance Guarantee applies to League City Municipal Court: accepted, or your fee is refunded in full.

Can I start the program before my court date?

Yes, and it is usually the smartest move. Enroll today, and the same-day enrollment letter goes with you to League City Municipal Court. Presenting proof of enrollment at your first appearance strengthens a request for deferred disposition and gives your attorney something concrete to negotiate with. Some clients finish the entire program before the judge ever sets a condition.

Is this program live, or is it a video I watch?

Live. Every session is a one-on-one video meeting with your instructor, scheduled on any day of the week at hours that fit around work and family. Between sessions you complete written lessons customized to your case. There is no group class and no self-paced video course — which is exactly why judges at League City Municipal Court and across Texas accept the documentation.
