How Long Is a Court-Ordered DV Program? Why Ours Is 26 Weeks

ATTORNEY-FOUNDED  •  COURT-ACCEPTED  •  IDENTITY-VERIFIED

Nationally, batterers intervention programs run about 24–52 weeks. Ours is 26 — the national norm — and here’s why that protects you.

Accepted by courts and probation departments in New Jersey — and used to satisfy court requirements in New York and Pennsylvania.

The National Norm Is Half a Year, Not a Weekend

Across the country, state standards and established batterers intervention programs run roughly 24 to 52 weeks,
with 26 weeks the most common benchmark. New Jersey orders usually don’t specify a number of weeks for DV
programs — they say “complete a domestic violence program” — but judges and probation
officers know what a real program looks like, and a certificate dated two weeks after enrollment looks like
exactly what it is.

That is why our Domestic Violence Intervention Program is 26 weeks by design, and cannot be compressed:
one module unlocks per week, every week requires a submitted written assignment, and live individual sessions are
fixed at intake, mid-program, and discharge. When your Completion Letter says 26 weeks, the enrollment date and
discharge date on it are 26 weeks apart — and that is precisely what makes the document credible.

Plan the Calendar Backward From Your Deadline

If a review hearing, sentencing date, or permanency timeline is on your calendar, count backward: a 26-week
program completed before a date eight months out requires enrolling now. The single most common DV-program
mistake in New Jersey courts is waiting — and no provider, including us, can honestly sell you the weeks back.
Enrollment takes one day and the enrollment letter alone, issued within 24 hours, shows the court you are on the
clock.

🔐 Identity-Verified Completion

Every enrollee provides a copy of a state or national ID at intake and verifies identity with each weekly
submission. When your probation officer or the court asks who actually did the work, the answer is documented
26 times over. This is the standard online programs should have been held to all along — ours is.

Founded by a Retired New Jersey Family & Criminal Law Attorney

The program was founded by Santo V. Artusa, Jr., J.D., C.A.M.T. — a retired New Jersey
family law and criminal law attorney and clinician executive with more than 15 years inside the same courts
this program serves, including years as a public defender in Jersey City. He has sat at counsel table for the
restraining order hearing, the plea cutoff, and the probation review. That is why the documentation is written
the way courts actually read it — and why lawyers and litigants trust it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I finish faster if my court date is soon?

No — and be wary of anyone who says yes. The 26 weeks are the program. What we can do immediately is document enrollment (within 24 hours) and provide status letters showing active progress for any interim court date.

My order says a specific number of sessions or weeks. Does your program match it?

Send us the order. Our DVIP runs 26 weeks; if your order specifies something different, we confirm with the court what satisfies it — and place you in the right program rather than the convenient one.

Will my court or probation officer accept this program?

The program is accepted by courts and probation departments in New Jersey, and has been used to satisfy court requirements in New York and Pennsylvania. Every order is different — send us your paperwork or your probation officer’s contact information and we confirm acceptance before you enroll.

How much does the program cost?

$1,000 paid in full. Payment plans: $300 down plus 3 payments of $300 ($1,200 total), or $150 down plus 6 payments of $215 ($1,440 total). Payments auto-charge every 4 weeks, and program access pauses if a payment is more than 3 days past due.

Is the program really online? How does that satisfy a court order?

Weekly modules and written assignments are completed online on your schedule; intake, mid-program, and discharge sessions are live individual video sessions with program staff. Identity is verified at intake and with every weekly submission, and your court or probation officer receives an enrollment letter within 24 hours and status reports on request.
